A great turn out for Council’s Double Dose Challenge at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. Sixteen cars practiced, 13 qualified and 12 started the race. Four CPVRG members made it to the race this weekend with another podium finish for member Bill Oakes. Enjoy.
We’ve fallen behind a bit in our postings for this year, so here’s a video from a podium win by member Bill Oakes at last weekend’s “Generating Speed” V/H race.
Checkered Past Vintage Race Group brought home second (Bill Oakes), third (John Saccameno), and fourth (John Wheeler) places at Midwestern Council Sports Car Club’s race, Steel of Track, on September 29.
One more race to go, and it’s the big one, Chicagoland’s Loooong Race on October 19th. Come to the track and join us, it’s always a great time, and usually a very good group of cars to watch race.
In the meantime, enjoy a few minutes from the Steel of Track race in Bill Oakes’ 240z.
100+ degree heat indexes didn’t keep Checkered Past VRG racers from placing two members on the podium in Midwestern Council’s July 15th race. Alfa Romeo GTV racers John Saccameno and John Wheeler finished second and third after 30 minutes of wheel-to-wheel racing. Three other members (Atkinson, Connell and Wiertz) finished the race, which is no small feat for 40+ year-old cars in 100+ degree heat.

After two miserable racing weekends the CPVRG was blessed with perfect racing weather, and very favorable results. Onboard Bill Oakes’ 1973 Datsun 240z.
Madison Sports Car Club proudly presents Who Says Duct Tape is Not Enough? Sure there are fringe groups that believe in WD-40 or J-B Weld, but deep down everyone knows that Duct Tape rules the toolbox!
In the true cheap-*** spirit of Red Green we’re keeping the same LOW entry fees for the fourth year in a row. To save you a few more duct tape dollars, we’re throwing a dinner Saturday night with pulled pork, BBQ’s, chips and beverages on us. Plus we’re taking some risk on the turnout and we need you to come out and help us break even! But we’re not skimping on the usual Madison silliness.
